Within the framework of the country’s economic reactivation process, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) approved the “Sectorial Health Protocol against Covid-19 for Travel and Tourism Agencies” in order for companies in this area to operate again, after four months of paralysis by the state of national emergency, safeguarding the health of its workers and users.
Through Ministerial Resolution No. 112-2020-MINCETUR, published on Friday, July 3rd in the Official Diary El Peruano, Mincetur established the preventive health measures that travel and tourism agencies must comply with, in order to prevent the transmission and spread of the coronavirus, monitoring the health of staff, return and reintegration to work.
This protocol establishes hygiene and sanitation provisions; use of protective equipment; protocols in service areas, administrative areas and operational areas; designation of personnel for symptom identification activities; among others. It also indicates the responsibilities in health matters of the company, workers, clients, suppliers and third parties, as well as the continuous verification of its fulfilment.
Some measures are: temperature control in the agency, use of health security equipment, opting for virtual payment channels, recording the pre-existence of diseases and data such as travel insurance, training staff and tourist guides on the protocols, among other mandatory compliance provisions for retail travel agencies, wholesalers and tour operators.
