Cajamarca is a lesser-known destination renowned for its popular culture, the carnival, and its tradition of dairy production. Due to its close proximity to the Cumbe Mayo Mountain and Archaeological Complex, Cajamarca is often called “The Flower of Cumbe”. The historical center in the city features buildings, churches, squares and streets from the Spanish colonial times, all of which motivated the colonial city to be declared “Heritage from Humanity” by UNESCO. Famous for its “Inka Baths”, formed by hot springs where the Inka used to bath, the Ventanillas de Otuzco are one of the most bizarre and extraordinary monuments in northern Peru.
