Tumbes is a city located in a tropical area on the extreme northeast corner of Peru. This city is known for its Cathedral, Main Square, Benavides sea front, among other sights. This is also where the Tumpis Fortress is located, an archaeological monument located 5 Km from the city. Famous for its Mangrove Swamps, a marine forest in which vegetation grows and develops in a transit area between sea and land. Here there is no shortage of natural beauty, with mazes, tide canals, shelter that acts as a food source for a number of species like crustaceans, mollusks, and a variety of fish. Tumbes is also known for its resorts like Punta Sal (84 km from the city), which is widely considered the best beach area to spend the summer.
