The walk starts in Ollantaytambo towards one of the most famous quarries in the Inka’s times, Cacchiccata (quechua word that means salt slope) is one the best attractions from the walk. From this point you can also see the Paqaritampu pyramid and the mountain or “Apu” (god) Veronica or Wakwy Willka that means “crying sacred mountain”. In winter solstice in June from the quarry, it is possible to see the location of the sun and dawn with spectacular shadow projections over the pyramid.
